How would you rate your experience with this company? 4/5

Anything else you would like others to know about your experience with this company? This is a bit of a “DIY” magazine. The designer is responsible for finding her own yarn. The editors are sort of non-communicative; you pretty much have to just pick a reasonable sample size and go with it. I would not submit to this magazine as a new designer; it was helpful to have quite a bit of experience under my belt to a) pick a yarn that I thought was ok, b) have an established relationship with a yarn company to get said yarn, and c) trust that I knew what size to make. It worked out fine, but if I was new, I would have panicked. I did negotiate my contract. The timeline was way too short because each step (waiting on a yes/no, then waiting on a fee offer, then on a contract) took so much longer than the submission call said it would, and the original timeline wasn’t altered to adjust for the wait. I asked for extra time and I got it- thanks to this website for giving me the courage to do that! The nice thing about this magazine is that they pay within 30 days of you sending in your sample and pattern. Love that. Plus I got my sample back before the magazine was even published.

Anything else you would like others to know about your experience with this company? The pattern was for legwarmers. I sent a couple of emails with questions during the process and never heard back (things like what size they would like the sample in). I eventually just decided on a ladies’ small and sent it off, a bit nervous since it seemed like my emails were just going into the twilight zone. They ended up paying me and returning my sample, so I would work with them again.
